Let's shine the spotlight on the Wheel With Me Foundation and its co-founder, Jesi Stracham!
Jesi's main mission: Help others live their life to the fullest despite obstacles
Jesi Stracham is a force to be reckoned with. She is an athlete, public figure, influencer, model, actress and strong advocate for the wheelchair community. It has been her life mission since 2015 to inspire others to live their lives to the fullest, regardless of any difficulties they may face.
After a tragic accident in 2015, Jesi was left paralyzed from the chest down, she was determined to not let her injury define her. In the years following her accident, Jesi went on to graduate college, start her own business, and travel the world - all while using a wheelchair. Her motto in life is “if I can do it, you can do it too” - and she truly lives by those words.
In 2016, Jesi was named Miss Wheelchair USA, and used her platform to spread messages of hope and empowerment to others with disabilities. She has since given many corporate talks, been featured in major news outlets, and written a book - all with the goal of helping others see that anything is possible.
No matter what life throws her way, Jesi continues to stay positive and motivated - proving to everyone that obstacles are meant to be overcome. Her story is one of strength, resilience, and hope - and it’s one that everyone should hear.
If you’re looking for someone to inspire you and show you that anything is possible, Jesi Stracham is your girl. Follow her on social media, read her blog, or check out her book - and get ready to be motivated.
Wheel With Me Foundation: Founded in 2016
The mission behind the Wheel With Me Foundation is to integrate wheelchair users into the world by giving them the skills to function and live independently. With the ultimate goal of establishing a residential facility that will bridge the gap between inpatient rehabilitation and the real world for those that use wheelchairs. Each resident of the Wheel With Me Campus will learn wheelchair skills, how to address and overcome daily obstacles, and care for themselves while fostering their personal development. Upon graduation, the resident will be confident reintegrating into their home, community, and workplace.
Even a Tough Mudder Can't Stop Jesi!
Jesi has attempted many sports but found an outlet for her competitive drive after participating in the Tough Mudder series. In 2017, she completed the 24-hour World’s Toughest Mudder and has done many more since. This event is a test of human endurance and teamwork, and it takes everything you’ve got to finish it. By leveraging a team of support runners, she has shown the world that anything is possible when just a few people come together.
The weekend of July 8-10, Jesi Stracham co-hosted the 1st annual Wheel Together Retreat! This is what she had to say about the event:
"In 2016 I partnered with a kind woman to co-found Wheel With Me Foundation, an organization focused on supporting the independence of wheelchair users. I wasn’t really sure how to make this happen in the beginning, but through trial and error we are continuing to progress.
We water-skied, explored accessible trails, worked-out, played with adaptive equipment, ate great food, had REAL conversations, and on top of everything else HAD A GREAT TIME!
This experience was empowering for all parties involved. I am so grateful for everyone who made it. Y’all are incredible. And thank you to everyone at the AEOC! Y’all’s hospitality was unbelievable & the facility's accessibility was unlike anything I’ve ever seen.
